About the Director

Once a Championship competitor in Irish dance competitions across the country, Chelsea Barron Gonzales is now the founder and director of Oklahoma Academy of Irish Dance. Chelsea started her dance teaching career as an assistant instructor at the young age of 14. She has performed at events across the state including the Medieval Fair, OU basketball games, and Dervish in Concert at the Tulsa PAC. Awhile after retiring from competition, Chelsea decided it was high time she pursued her dream and opened the academy. Since then she has watched her student numbers grow rapidly, and now teaches several times a week. Chelsea has been asked to bring Irish dance workshops to a number of schools and churches in the OKC area, and has worked with over 200 children and adults. She has taken students of the academy to perform at a number of events including, the Medieval Fair, the Oklahoma Celtic Festival, and the Oklahoma Celtic Fair.
